Polish catholic art for sale

Poland is a traditional catholic country and Polish catholic art is famous wordwide. A Madonna is a representation of Mary, either alone or with her child Jesus. These images are central icons for both the Catholic and Orthodox churches. The word is from Italian ma donna, meaning "my lady". No image permeates Christian art as much as the image of the Madonna and child.

While Mary may be referred to as "the Madonna" in other contexts, in art the term is applied specifically to an artwork in which Mary, with or without the infant Jesus, is the focus, and central figure of the picture. Mary and the infant Jesus may be surrounded by adoring angels or worshiping saints. Images that have a narrative content, including those of the many scenes which make up the Life of the Virgin, are not correctly referred to as "Madonnas" but are given a title that reflects the scene such as the Annunciation to Mary. "Madonna" is a medieval Italian term for a noble or otherwise important woman, and has long been used commonly in reference to images of the Virgin Mary. The word has also been adopted by the English and other European languages. "Madonna", translates as "my lady". While stressing the personal, if reverent relationship between the Virgin and the devout Christian who addresses her in prayer, it is comparable to the French, "Notre Dame", or "Our Lady".

These names signal both the increased importance of the cult of the virgin and the prominence of art in service to Marian devotion during the late medieval period. During the 13th century, especially, with the increasing influence of chivalry and aristocratic culture on poetry, song and the visual arts, the Madonna is represented as the queen of Heaven, often enthroned.

Strictly speaking, the term "Madonna" should be used exclusively for Italian works, but has become applied much more widely. It is often applied to the same work of art alternately with the title "Virgin". An image in which Mary is depicted with the Christ Child, may be called a Madonna and Child, but is often loosely referred to as a Madonna. (from Wiki).

Venus of Willendorf on the cross - what do you think?

Hallo!

My new painting "Venus of Willendorf" is now available for sale. Actually not new, I painted it in 2011. This is a feminist painting showing my vision of the slavery of women. The Woman of Willensdorf itself is a very famous icon of prehistoric art. I would like to upload here a picture of this old statuette for comparison, but I don't know how to do it? One image in one blog post only?

New tarot deck from Poland

Hi everyone,

This is a new tarot deck from Poland based on esoteric Christianity.

The Tarot of the Apocalypse is created in 2007-2008, on the basis of an entirely new systemic understanding of all three groups of cards, and clear defining of their individual meaning and its implications within the whole they comprise. The Tarot of the Apocalypse presents a Christian idea from the esoteric point of view which is significantly removed from the Church orthodoxy, and so, in a way, heretic. This in-depth look at the collection of Christian religious imagery is underlined by the awareness that Christianity, in its current form, is already in serious decline and it will be either reborn in a new shape, or simply left behind. Of the three groups of cards that the deck is divided to, the major arcana represent the highest, eternal level and, with the transition to the minor arcana, we enter the level of historical concretization. The court cards depict the story of Jesus Christ, the circle of people particularly relevant to Christianity, along with Christianity’s division into the main churches. The pip cards, on the other hand, present the life of a Catholic regulated by sacraments, commandments, etc. The esoteric perspective makes a lot of what constitutes a religious framework of life in the Christian community look rather caricatured.
The deck is of a clear, consistently arranged structure rooted, to a large extent, in the astrological schema. The author of the whole concept, Swiatoslaw Florian Nowicki is a philosopher, expert in the esoteric thinking and an astrologist. The cards were sketched by Robert Sobota on the basis of the drafts and notes prepared by Swiatoslaw Florian Nowicki, and coloured with ink by me.

Change your life with art

Hi from Poland!

I am Magdalena and new here. This is a test post. I would like to know people here. I know I will never sell anything, but what should I do?

I will just start to blogging, which is difficult as English is not my native tonque. The blog adress given on my profile is in Polish. But you can see my paintings there. Paintings don't need words.
